CBD oil is a wonderful product with many uses. If you’re simple and straight to the point, you just take it orally and go about your business. Although that may be efficient, at BeSababa we are all about feeling good and enjoying the benefits of wellness products in new and exciting ways. With this goal in mind, we realized that there is not enough information on food infused with CBD at home and how to cook using CBD oil.
To get started changing that, we have curated a list of 3 smoothie recipes using CBD oil as an ingredient to help spice up the way people use our wonderful products!
CBD in food is a great way to combine the effects of CBD with normal everyday life. Rather than taking CBD oil like a supplement or medication, adding it to food can make it feel more like an ingredient that is normal to everyday life - and of course, it just makes the CBD tastier and more customizable!
You can add CBD to virtually any food you like but there are a few restrictions. Mainly, you don’t want to use CBD as cooking oil. It has a low burn point, which means that by using it to cook, it will lose a lot of its health benefits.
In general, adding it to liquids like smoothies or dressings is a great move because it will fit right into the mixture without changing the flavor of the food. We love adding the oil to smoothies because smoothies are such a simple and efficient way to get healthy servings of nutrients.
Your desired dosage really just depends on exploring and trying out different quantities. For example, if you’re making a smoothie for two people, maybe double the dosage. If you don’t feel the effects of your initial dosage, you can also always add more directly into the smoothie and mix it in.
Our CBD oils come with a recommended serving size on the bottle, so if you’re in doubt, you can always start there.
This is a wonderful and super simple recipe for pre-workout or post-workout nutrients. Whatever you do in the gym or outside, fueling your body correctly is key to performing your best-- and this smoothie will give you just what you need!
With a combination of protein powder, flax seeds, and peanut butter, your body is getting a solid serving of protein and healthy fats that will keep you balanced and fueled before your workout and on the path to a healthy recovery after.
When you throw in a banana you’ll be reducing your chances of cramping and giving your body a nice natural sugar boost that also manages to keep the smoothie tasty. The reason we prefer natural sugars like bananas vs. other sweetening agents is that the natural sugars found in fruit have a lower glycemic index. In essence, this means that sugar from fruit takes longer to turn to fat and does not cause your blood sugar to spike as severely as other sugars.
Fruits also have other nutrients like fiber and potassium which will help reduce cramping. We attached a graphic below to compare what different sugars in different forms really mean to the body.
Lastly, adding our CBD oils to your workout smoothie will help to reduce inflammation and can help aid in recovery. The Powerhouse has all the benefits of a balanced meal that is perfect for anyone who’s getting in or out of the gym.
Pro tip: to avoid using ice, just freeze a banana beforehand (could be good for students who live in dorms and don’t have ice machines)!
We call this smoothie The All Arounder because of its accessibility and because it is truly perfect for any situation. By using many different ingredients and keeping the sugar low and sweetness balanced, this smoothie can be refreshing for breakfast, perfect as a midday snack, or fit for any other situation.
It’s packed with protein and healthy fats from the peanut butter, spinach, and flax (or chia) seeds. It’s sweetened using fruits and foods with low glycemic indexes to keep the body from feeling a sugar spike and then a sugar crash. And of course, it has the wonderful added benefits of our CBD oil to keep the body calm, relaxed, and feeling Sababa.
There’s not much to say about this smoothie except that it is truly The All Arounder. Ideal for any time and delicious all day, we really love this one.
We think The Clean and Simple is pretty self-explanatory. With only 3 ingredients (aside from ice, water, and CBD), we think that this easy smoothie is a perfect refreshing treat. Whether you just spent the day outside in the summer sun, or you have been getting up to some quarantine cleaning, this smoothie is guaranteed to hit the spot!
We love the ingredients in this smoothie because the two fruits and spinach balance each other out, keeping the flavor from getting too bitter or sweet. Additionally, the spinach is high in nutrients like fiber, iron, and vitamin C. To read more about the nutritional value of spinach, click here!
The pears and grapes add to the nutritional value of the smoothie by having high vitamin and mineral contents. Plus, they keep it sweet and refreshing!
Protip: Give this one a little extra time in the blender to avoid pulpiness from the grape and pear skin!
Obviously, making smoothies with CBD is not rocket science. It’s as simple as digging through your fridge and cabinets to whip something together that will suit your needs for that day or activity.
